After handing Utah State a 48-0 ass kickin’, Utah has proven that Utah State is no longer a “rival.”
There’s not much to say about that game. I wonder if the Utes are ready for a “real” opponent yet.

Despite a sluggish first half of the first quarter, the Utes took care of business and dispensed with Northern Arizona handily.
Ratliff looked great. The running game came alive. The defense had some sacks. No turnovers.
Nobody jump for joy though. This is a 1AA program the Utes just beat. It’s good to have a victory but doesn’t really tell us anything about how good or bad this team is yet.
It was a great turnout too. Despite the quality of the competition the crowd was the 15th largest in Ute history. The stands were full.
After watching last weeks game on my TIVO I’ve come to one conclusion:
We have dumb coaches.
Someone give me one logical reason to pull Ratliff when the score is 7-7 and he’s moving the ball quite well? We’re hanging in there, doing fine in the game.
As soon as we switch QB’s, Grady throws into double coverage and a freshman runs it in for a TD. The BIG MO was never the same.
I’m not saying we would have won that game had that not happened, but it certainly would have been a different outcome.
Another great quote from the UCLA announcers:
“Ben Olson has a left handed arm.”
One of the talking heads in the Utah/UCLA pregame show was seriously asking “What is a Ute?”
What an idiot.
